SkyHoppers Private Aerial Excursion Logistics

SkyHoppers launches flight training excursions from the Puerto Plata International Airport (ICAO Identifier MDPP), located in Puerto Plata on the northern Shore of the island. The airport has airline service, Avgas, a general aviation flight service office, and a 10,100 foot runway with many instrument approach procedures. The airport is also centrally located within a 15-minute drive of SkyHoppers recommended accommodations allowing for easy access from start to finish for each excursion.

SkyHoppers flight training excursions are generally all-day events launching between 9 and 11am depending on the time of year, and are scheduled to allow for plenty of beach-combing with your family and friends on alternate days. The SkyHoppers Chief Pilot will assist you in planning outings and arrange for transportation at the destination for each aerial excursion depending on your interests; SkyHoppers does not cover such transportation costs. The Chief Pilot may also accompany you on the ground during the excursions for translation purposes and to offer a guided tour, as desired. Finally, SkyHoppers will temporarily provide you with a Dominican cell phone while on the ground during the excursions, for rendezvous and safety purposes, at no extra cost.

SkyHoppers launches all its Adventures into the Dominican Republic from San Jose California. We invite pilots to cross the U.S. with us as a separate flight training excursion for an additional fee of $1,995 one-way per Adventure package purchased. The coast-to-coast excursion is 2,247nm and lasts 2.5 days. The third day is spent crossing 765nm through the Bahamas. The total flight time is 24 hours aloft and 3,012nm one-way. Along the way you will learn much about long-distance flight planning and weather interpretation, while enjoying the changing scenery as we pass over the various regions of the country. Additional details pertaining to all Adventure packages, including flight time accrual, cancellation, refunds, and joining SkyHoppers during round trip domestic flight training excursions into the caribbean are as follows:

As SkyHoppers launches all its Adventures into the Caribbean and the DR from California, we invite pilots to cross the U.S. with us as a separate flight training excursion for an additional fee of only $2,495 one-way. During the ferry you will log an additional 25 hours over 2.5 days. Contact the chief pilot for details regarding round-trip cross-country flights.
Skyhoppers allows one adult guest or pilot sharing an excursion, to accompany you during each flight training excursion.
SkyHoppers prices excursion hours according to 'Hobbs-time' which is based on every hour the aircraft engine is running. However, the charge for any additional flight time will be based only on time aloft ('Tach-time'). This includes requests for additional aerial excursions during any of these Adventures, completion of tailwheel endorsement training, or in the event total purchased flight time is exceeded due to weather or unforeseen delays. The rates for additional flight time outlined above only cover costs associated with completing an aerial excursion or training, and exclude the cost of meals, transportation, and potential hotel stays while away from your accommodations.
There are no refunds for flight time not used for any reason during the 'Whirlwind' Adventure, or in the event a pilot cancels a scheduled flight excursion during any Adventure package. However, in the event any flight excursions are canceled due to IFR weather conditions and cannot be completed during the 'Getaway' or 'Lost-in-Paradise' Adventure vacation periods, the total price for these adventures will be pro-rated at $150 and $125 for any of the excursion hours not flown during these Adventures, respectively.
